Hi, I’m Megan — and My Budget Habit is where I share the simple money habits that changed my life.

A few years ago I was living paycheck to paycheck. I wasn’t careless with money — I just never had a system. Every month ended the same way: wondering where it all went, and telling myself next month would be different.

What finally worked wasn’t a strict budget or giving up everything I enjoyed. It was small, repeatable habits: a monthly budget I could actually stick to, sinking funds for the expenses that used to surprise me, and savings challenges that made progress feel like a game instead of a punishment. Slowly, the credit cards got paid off. An emergency fund appeared. And money stopped being the thing I worried about at 2 a.m.

My Budget Habit is where I write down everything that worked (and what didn’t), in plain, beginner-friendly steps:

  • Budgeting basics that fit real life — 50/30/20, zero-based, and paycheck budgeting
  • Saving challenges that build momentum, from $1,000 emergency funds to the 52-week challenge
  • Debt payoff strategies that keep you motivated
  • Calmer, cheaper ways to run a home — groceries, organization, and everyday spending

I’m not a financial advisor, and nothing here is one-size-fits-all advice. I’m a regular person sharing what’s working in my own home, so you can take the ideas that fit your life and leave the rest.

New here? Start with my free Monthly Budget Planner — it’s the exact one-page system I use at the start of every month. Then say hello on Pinterest, where I share new budgeting ideas every day.

Thanks for stopping by. Let’s build your budget habit, one month at a time.
